This announcement marks the first long-form animated series production for King Features since announcing their strategy to build character franchises across multiple platforms including television, digital video, licensing and social media. The game is currently available on pretty much every platform you can think of (except for mobile, for now), including Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Win 10, Steam, GOG, and Mac. Netflix just announced they’ve ordered a new TV show based on the hit video game. Through their many misadventures across their surreal home of the Inkwell Isles, they’ve always got one another’s backs. There's also been little news about a potential Cuphead sequel, and fans probably shouldn't expect any announcements for one to arrive anytime in the near future, if the current fate of Cuphead: The Delicious Last Course is any. The game was inspired by the rubber hose style of animation used in cartoons from the golden age of American animation, such as the works of Walt Disney Animation Studios and Fleischer Studios, and it sought to emulate their subversive and surrealist qualities. The milestone was revealed alongside news that the game is being adapted into an animated series for Netflix as The Cuphead Show. A first look for the Cuphead Netflix show was revealed in June 2020, but no release date has been since announced. Cuphead is a 2017 run-and-gun video game developed and published by Studio MDHR. Cuphead is Netflix’s Latest Video Game Adaptation. The new series will expand on the characters and world of Cuphead with an animation style inspired by the classic Fleischer cartoons from the 1930s. Cuphead, the famously punishing video game, is coming to Netflix as The Cuphead Show, featuring the titular character and his brother Mugman.Aside from its difficulty, the game is also well known for its animation style, based on the iconic (though controversial) 1930s era cartooning of Max Fleischer. Netflix gave Cuphead fans a behind-the-scenes look at their upcoming adaptation of the popular 2017 video game on Friday.
